Dear Members,
Occupancy so far, holding 80-85% which we expect to increase over the following months of July and August. We do see more exchange vacationers throughout the low season months, from May and continuing through October. The months of July and August being ideal months for family vacations from many countries, families from North America to South America, Europe and include our many local members, who have created long lasting friendships among the young and not so young.

So far, no rain for several months. Hurricane season began June 1st, and we here at our Resort and on the Island are in preparations as we are every year. God willing, Aruba, the Caribbean and our neighboring countries will be spared.

INTERVAL INTERNATIONAL RECOGNIZES ARUBA-BASED RESORTS
May 25, 2012 - Interval International, a prominent worldwide provider of vacation services, recognized Aruba based member resorts that participated in this year's fundraising initiative benefiting the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association (CHTA) Education Foundation that resulted in a $60,000 donation to the Foundation.

The Aruba Beach Club, Aruba’s Grand Dame of Timesharing was very proud to be amongst the recipients of Interval International’s recognition ceremonies.

CLUB DUES: Statements will be mailed early July with due date October 31, 2012 for next Fiscal Year 2012/2013, covering weeks 44 through 52 of 2012 and weeks 1 through 43 of 2013 :

Deluxe - $547.00
Royal - $638.00

REMINDER TO UPDATE YOUR PERSONAL DATA: The Club at all times needs to have an updated record of all our existing Members and we find that some of our members change their mailing address, contact or other related personal information and forget to inform the Resort. If this is your case, please contact Cathy Brete via email execoff@arubabeachclub.net in order to update your records with the Club.

AIR-CONDITIONING SYSTEM: All of the equipment of the two new Chillers and two new cooling towers are on the Island, cleared through Customs and in the capable hands of our local contractor CHS who is currently doing the preliminary assembly. Preparations on the roof of ABC where the units will be installed are in progress and it is fully anticipated that all of the new equipment, the two new chillers and two new cooling towers will be installed and operational by end July – mid-August. At that point the First Major Phase
of the Air-Conditioning Renovation Project will be complete.

MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT: Work is continuing with the 2nd Floor balcony retiling project, as well as other regular and/or urgent maintenance issues. Some noise due to drilling, etc. can be felt in units and other areas close by to site of work.

Another major project, the Laundromat facilities has been renovated during the last week of June, tiled and already placed back in service for this first week of July.

Please take good note of The Board of Director’s New Policy regarding extensive room maintenance and repairs: “Any room that is still vacant on a Tuesday morning of each week, whether it is in the Rental Program or not, will be subject to and made available for any major room maintenance and repair work”. In case of a special project such as the balconies repairs etc., the unoccupied and unrented units will be made available as of Saturdays. The Board of Directors realizes that from time to time this Policy may cause some confusion and perhaps some extra work for the Front Desk and Club’s Rental office, should the Club need to relocate someone. However, it is the only reasonable solution in order for Maintenance to get the necessary repairs and maintenance done in our rooms. In case of emergency repairs members/guests may be requested by Management to room change at any time throughout your stay. Thank you for your kind cooperation and understanding.

RESERVATIONS: Reminder - Guest of Member Authorization form must be received by the Reservations Dept. prior to a family member, friend, or renter arrives at the Resort.

SPACEBANK DEPOSITS WITH EXCHANGE COMPANIES: Please be reminded, Members are required to PRE-PAY the Club Dues/Maintenance Fees on the corresponding wk/unit/year prior to contacting the Exchange Company with a spacebank deposit. Your deposit will be returned if prepayment has not been received/recorded on your account by ABC. Check your Club Dues Statement “begins” date that indicates the wk/unit/yr billed.

MEMBERS AND GUESTS LENDING LIBRARY has been moved to a new location, from inside the Members Lounge to the vacant space next to the Members Lounge to provide easy access for the borrow/return of books. We hope you enjoy the collection and certainly do appreciate your reading contributions, including a selection of children’s books.

ACTIVITIES: In addition to our own regular weekly activities, there are some Island Activities to which we also extend an invitation to our guests, such as the Bon Bini Festival (Tuesday in Oranjestad at the Willem III Tower), and the CARUBBIAN Festival (Thursdays in San Nicolas by the main bus station). Check with our Activities Coordinator, Susan for times and further information.

THE ARUBA HI-WINDS scheduled July 3rd through the 9th, has been the biggest and best known watersport event of the Caribbean for a period of 24 years. Since 1996 the Aruba Hi-Winds has been held at theFisherman's Hut. This spot is the best on the island for windsurfing and kitesurfing ensuring the international participants an awesome experience. In the beginning the Aruba Hi-Winds was a professional sports event.

In 1997 the Aruba Hi-Winds became an amateur status event. However, with the new change of government, the focus is to get the event professional status once again, (they aim to boost the sportive image of Aruba).

In 2002, kite surfing became part of the Aruba Hi-Winds, which makes the event even more diverse. The number of participants is still growing steady year after year. Last year there we had 180 participants, and the event draws the attention of around 2000 spectators. Besides the matches and races there are several bands, DJ's, food and drink stands and side-events on the beach for all to enjoy.

Again, a pleasure updating you with some of the latest developments at the ABC and on our Island. I look forward to meeting you at the regular Tuesday Manager’s Meeting where most recent info will be shared and questions from the floor addressed.
