The fee increases are noted at the bottom of the Proposed Budget for 2020/2021 fiscal year. The Proposed Budget is part of the 2020 Convocation document.

NOTES:
(1) Proposed Budget includes an increase in Maintenance fees of 1.5%
Current Maintenance Fees: Superior - $654, Deluxe - $772, and Royal - $899
Proposed new Maintenance Fees: Superior - $664, Deluxe - $784 and Royal - $912[/i][/i]

Historically, Aruba has a 3 to 4% yearly COL increase, so we have to adjust our personnel remuneration accordingly every year. (Our Personnel expenses also include performance appraisal bonuses and many other social benefits such as a pension and insurance plan, etc.). But this COL increase/decrease is not only Personnel costs (over 50% of our budget), but it also effects everything on the island:utilities, gasoline, gas, government services, contracting services, etc.
In addition, we have to plan for possible changes in shipping and other importation costs to Aruba (changes in tariffs, duties, etc.) All of the above require realistic planning during ABCR's yearly budgeting process, most especially since our membership has to approve our budgets a year or more in advance. We have to try to meet our planned expenditures with a corresponding income on a yearly basis as we, a Cooperative, are a non-profit organization. The above means that our Maintenance Dues, etc.
must be raised- or hopefully lowered- to meet the levels necessary as we should not end a fiscal year with a loss or deficit.

In light of the financial impact of the virus, I strongly urge the Board
to reconsider an increase to the maintenance fee in 2020. Members
will be paying the third year of the refurbishment this year and many
units have yet to be scheduled for the upgrade.
