Dear Members and Guests,

The ABCR Board of Directors and Management Team would like to update all members and guests of the ever-changing situation that is occurring at the Aruba Beach Club Resort and on the island.

This past Tuesday (March 17th), the Board and Management Team held a joint owners’ and guests’ meeting in which we laid out some of the precautions the club was taking as a result of this Worldwide Pandemic emergency.

We would like to clarify a couple of the statements made and provide you with additional information that we have learned as of 12 Noon March 19, 2020.

We indicated that as a result of this emergency, those guests who are currently registered and occupying a unit at the ABCR and become “stranded” on the island, the club would waive all fees except for your incidentals.

We have spoken with and heard comments from several guests and owners that they will be staying longer “on the club” and are making no effort to leave the island. Therefore, please note that it was not and currently is not our intention to provide free board or waive taxes or other fees to those who voluntary elect to stay or extend their stay at the club and make no attempt to leave the island.

In addition, if you are an owner, guest of owner, exchange guest or rented through the club’s rental department and currently hold a confirmed reservation beyond week 11 (2020) and intend to stay, it was not and currently is not our intention to provide free board or waive taxes or other fees.

For those who may have misunderstood our intentions, please be advised that if you fall into the category stated above, all charges will be added to your bill, this includes energy or any other additional surcharges, incidentals including the per night rental amount if you are no longer utilizing your week.

Some other points of information:

Most travel Insurance will not provide coverage for Pandemics, or coverage if you voluntary decide to extend your coverage during this emergency.
The ABCR will not allow owners to “switch” their week for other weeks during the year. We strongly recommend that you deposit these weeks with either RCI or II.
Regarding rooms rented either privately or through the club’s rental program:
If you have rented privately (not through the club’s rental program) you must contact the party, you rented from and have a discussion with them. Unfortunately, the club is unable to intercede as you entered into a private transaction and the club will not compensate you monetarily or otherwise. However, if you are unable to occupy your unit(s) from weeks 12 through 18, the club will waive the No Show, nightly energy and other surcharges. This waiver will be re-examined at the beginning of May 2020.
If you have rented through the club’s rental program, the Board of Directors is still deliberating how the situation will be handled. Please bear with us during these trying times.
Most airlines have announced their intention not to fly to Aruba as of Monday March 24, 2020 through May 02, 2020. This very well may lead to the closure of the Aruba Airport.
As a result of this Pandemic, there is a strong possibility that the ABCR may be forced to reduce, limit or cease the services we normally provide.
Services provided by local vendors, including shops, food stores, restaurants etc. are limited due to governments orders/restrictions, and they are appearing to change on a daily or bi-daily basis. PLEASE find a way to keep yourself informed from reliable sources.
Out of concern for your health, the health of others, the ABCR staff, and the ability of this small island to provide adequate medical attention we strongly recommend that any guest still on property seek passage to your home destination immediately.

PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAT THE ABCR, ITS STAFF, CONTRACTORS, VENDORS, ETC. ARE NOT QUALIFIED TO ATTEND TO YOUR MEDICAL NEEDS AND HAVE LIMITED RESOURCES TO ATTEND TO OTHER NEEDS OR ISSUES. AS A RESULT, ONCE AGAIN WE STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT ANY GUEST STILL ON PROPERTY SEEK PASSAGE TO YOUR HOME DESTINATION IMMEDIATELY. THE ABCR ASSUMES NO LIABILITY MEDICALLY OR OTHERSWISE FOR GUEST(S) WHO CONTINUE TO STAY ON PROPERTY.

*** UPDATE ON NEW GOVERNMENT DECISION:

The Government of Aruba has introduced a curfew as of Saturday (March 21st) between 9pm and 6am. Only exception: pharmacies and “vital jobs” (more details on this will be shared soon). As of Saturday, no one can enter Aruba including residents.
All restaurants and supermarkets are open until 8:00pm. Some restaurants have delivery and take-out services. For the supermarkets, they allow people to enter only by batch.
We value each and every one of you and appreciate your patience and understanding. We are committed to supporting you in this time of uncertainty.

Respectfully yours,

The Board of Directors and Management
